Description

The Air Jordan 1 Low SE “Tokyo Vintage” arrives in colors of Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina, while paying tribute to the 1996 “Nike Hoop Heroes” event during MJ’s first visit to Japan.

In addition to Jordan, the event featured Charles Barkley, Jason Kidd, Michael Finley, Damon Staudermaier, and special guest Carl Lewis.

A kid in a UNC uniform got the opportunity to play 1-on-1 against MJ, who was wearing the Air Jordan 12s, and the lizard skin Swoosh on these Air Jordan 1 Lows nods to the pair Jordan wore at the event.

The sneaker features a grey suede upper with University Blue seen on the mudguard and toecap and dark grey on the lace overlay, Swoosh, and heel counter. The deconstructed tongue features a Jumpman tongue tag with the Wings logo stitched on the heel in gold. Down below, the midsoles have been given a pre-aged yellow exterior which further speaks to the shoes’ “Tokyo Vintage” nickname.

The kid, Keijuro Matsui, is now 37 years old and still plays pro basketball till this day. 27 years have passed, and Jordan Brand recalls that excitement of the day with this special release.

  1. I of course love the Air Jordan 1 silhouette. It’s classic. The shoes look great, the colorways are cool. They have the best rubber outsole grip/tread, it’s great on city streets/subway stations. I like how low they are to the ground and low heel drop.
