To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3 this year, Jordan Brand is set to bring back the court classic in its iconic “White Cement” colorway. Part of the emerging “Reimagined” series, the upcoming release will feature a retro shape drawn from the original release, vintage detailing, “NIKE AIR” at the heels, and special OG packaging.
The Air Jordan 3 White Cement Reimagined will express the classic mix of Summit White/Fire Red/Cement Grey with a design inspired by the debut 1988 release. The uppers feature premium white leather with perforated sections paired with Elephant print overlays at the toe and heel regions. Details include a Red Jumpman on the tongues, Nike Air on the heels, elephant print overlays on the toes and heel, White laces and a Red insole with Black Nike Air branding on it.
Much like the Air Jordan 1 High OG Lost & Found, this release will also be given a vintage/aged aesthetic as yellowed heel tabs and midsoles will be part of the sneaker’s design.
The sneakers will also come with special packaging aka a dinged up box with scuffs throughout along with marked by faithful weathering along with a retro pamphlet going through the design of the Air Jordan 3.
Is Jordan 3 retro?
The Air Jordan III, which has been re-released as the Jordan Retro 3 regularly since 1994, introduced a new mid-cut silhouette, the unprecedented look of elephant print, and a brilliant young designer to the world of basketball shoes.
The majority of Jordan 3s are built from leather. The quality varies by release; the uppers on some colorways are usually pliable but others can be stiff. Some 3s will utilize suede or nubuck. Softer leathers and suedes should require less break in time. Over time, the upper on most sneakers will conform to the wearer’s foot shape a bit, becoming a much better and more comfortable fit.
Are Air Jordan 3 Good For Basketball?
One could play basketball in an Air Jordan 3, however it is inadvisable when compared to more advanced modern basketball sneakers available. Today’s tech surpasses that of the 80s and 90s with respect to sports performance.
I would put the Air Jordan 3 strictly in the casual category. While one could theoretically hoop in some retro Js, this is nowhere near ideal. I find walking in the Air Jordan 3 is ok, as long as you don’t overdo it. A few miles at a time is fine though.
