Description
Among a slew of Nike and Jordan Brand drops centered around the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the return of the Air Jordan 6 “Olympic” stands out as the most prized of them all. What’s more is that the 2024 retro aligns perfectly with the OG that dropped for the Sydney Olympic Games back in 2000, The pair, which was last spotted in 2012 for the London Games, is returning for its third release — revisiting all of the colorway’s key details.
In this exciting comeback, the Air Jordan 6 boasts a clean White and Navy upper adorned with striking Red accents on the lace locks and Jumpman logos, reminiscent to complete the trifecta of colors present on the American flag. Notably, the 2024 retro edition is returning to its roots with the original White midsole paired with Navy overlays, a nostalgic touch that fans will surely appreciate. An icy-translucent sole supports the sneaker to round out this brief preview of the kicks.
The Air Jordan 6’s silhouette, known for its classic and aerodynamic shape, draws inspiration from Michael Jordan’s love for the sleek design of German sports cars. This specific “Olympic” colorway was notably worn during the Summer Games by Jordan Brand athletes Vin Baker and Ray Allen, enhancing its iconic status.
When did the Air Jordan 6 release?
Second to the Air Jordan 1, the Air Jordan 6 is still to this day one of the most popular silhouettes within the line-up.
Originally released in 1991 and it soon followed MJ into his first NBA Championship, the Air Jordan 6 was designed by Tinker Hatfield. They feature a visible Air unit in the heel as well as a translucent outsole, a molded back heel tab and set of lace locks.
The history behind the Air Jordan 6 is the reason why I love it so much. To me, the shoe will always be iconic as it was worn by Michael Jordan himself en route to his first NBA title.
Comfort:
The Air Jordan 6 may be one of the more uncomfortable retros in the Air Jordan line, I’ve always found them to be very firm underfoot, but the biggest pro of the silhouette is that they’re wide-foot friendly — something that I appreciate.
Fit:
Sizing wise, they fit relatively true to size. Some will get away with going half a size down because the sneaker has a roomy toe box.
Care:
Depending on the materials of the shoe, I care for my Air Jordan 6 sneakers the same way I would care for any other shoe. For suede or nubuck uppers, I use suede brushes and scrub the midsoles and outsoles with a standard shoe cleaning product.
