The influx of new custom sneakers hitting the market has reached a staggering level, posing quite a challenge for enthusiasts striving to stay in the loop. Fortunately, we can extend our heartfelt gratitude to the legion of Instagram artists who graciously exhibit their craft, thereby ensuring we remain connected to the latest artistic endeavours. For example, Andrew (@andu.c) shared his unique Goku-inspired sneakers for National Goku Day, one pair of Nike Air Jordan 1 Low inspired by Super Saiya Jin 1 and another pair of Air Jordan 3s inspired by Super Saiya Jin 3.
These epic custom Air Jordan 3 sneakers embody Goku’s Super Saiya Jin 3 form, from top to bottom.
Starting from the top, the sock liner and the collar of the customised Air Jordan 3s, leading into the tongue and the lace stays, all have the bright yellow that characterises the form of the Super Saiya Jin 3. In contrast, the heel has the yellow of Goku’s signature tail.
The tumbled leather panelling of the upper and lower midsole is a pink-toned tan that matches Goku’s skin tone.
The mudguard, heel counter, outsole and a horizontal stripe that wraps around the front bit of the sneaker share the bright orange of Goku’s outfit in his Super Saiya Jin 3 form.
The upper-midsole and the panelling below the orange stripe, as well as the inner side of the tongue label and the signature Jumpman logo, are all the deep blue of the accents of Goku’s outfit, like his belt, his shoes, his undershirt, etc.
Many fans couldn’t help but point out the tiny details, like the Goku kanji that adorns the back by the heel in red and the electric power swirling around the Jumpman logo that usually surrounds Goku when he goes Super Saiyan.
Is Jordan 3 retro?
The Air Jordan III, which has been re-released as the Jordan Retro 3 regularly since 1994, introduced a new mid-cut silhouette, the unprecedented look of elephant print, and a brilliant young designer to the world of basketball shoes.
The majority of Jordan 3s are built from leather. The quality varies by release; the uppers on some colorways are usually pliable but others can be stiff. Some 3s will utilize suede or nubuck. Softer leathers and suedes should require less break in time. Over time, the upper on most sneakers will conform to the wearer’s foot shape a bit, becoming a much better and more comfortable fit.
Are Air Jordan 3 Good For Basketball?
One could play basketball in an Air Jordan 3, however it is inadvisable when compared to more advanced modern basketball sneakers available. Today’s tech surpasses that of the 80s and 90s with respect to sports performance.
I would put the Air Jordan 3 strictly in the casual category. While one could theoretically hoop in some retro Js, this is nowhere near ideal. I find walking in the Air Jordan 3 is ok, as long as you don’t overdo it. A few miles at a time is fine though.
