Unveiled via Instagram and touted as a Made In USA proposition, the sixth iteration of the 990 series – which has been celebrating its 40th anniversary – visually and structurally updates New Balance‘s beloved heritage design for the next 40 years.
Taking a more rounded shape than the earlier 990s, the sneaker features grey mesh and grey suede with 3M reflective accents. The N logo is still seen on the medial and lateral sides with 990 branding featured on the lateral heel and on the tongue. The chunkier midsole features Fuelcell cushioning for the first time for the 990 with a black and grey rubber outsole finishing off the sneaker.
Design language across the upper also receives an update, opting for a sportier look achieved by more curved lines and chiseled components.
The “v” indicates the version number of your shoes. For example, the New Balance 880v10 has received multiple updates (v2, v3, v4, v5, v6,v7) When looking at the complete style number (ex. M860K10) the letters that follow the number indicate the color code. The “10” indicates the version. Sep 18, 2020•Knowledge.
Are New Balance shoes high quality?
A top choice for fitness walkers, New Balance shoes are known for their plush comfort and quality construction. The brand also offers sneakers in a wide range of styles that provide extra support for different types of wearers, like those with flat feet or fallen arches.
Why is New Balance so comfortable?
Walking shoes should provide comfort and support while minimizing foot pain and issues like plantar fasciitis. New Balance’s walking shoes generally have thick, cushioned midsoles that absorb impact, as well as well-designed footbeds that provide arch support (although some of their models are more minimal).
