Description
As you would expect from any significant anniversary year, the Air Max 1 is coming on in droves as it prepares for its 35th birthday in 2023. From OG remasters to whimsical colorways inspired by vinyl toys, Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary trainer is poised for a colossal year. The silhouette has also paid homage to its extensive back story, from “Big Bubble” releases, to a reinterpretation of the famed “Shima Shima” color scheme. For its next, Nike looks back to another relic, with this new effort in white, red, and black boasting a similar set-up to 2003’s “Chili” release.
Adopting very similar color blocking, this new interpretation deviates in a few noticeable ways from its 20-year-old predecessor. Firstly, and most obviously, the grey suede overlays use a significantly lighter shade – and a softer finish. Finer tweaks to the tongue tag, liner, and outsole to give the pair a more contemporary feel, too, thus adding a little more distance to the original 2003 colorway. Red bold Swooshes with matching Air bubbles, “Nike Air” branded heels atop a two-tone Black and White rubber sole completes the design.
When were Air Max 1 released?
In 1987, the Air Max 1 changed the world of footwear forever. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the icon made the invisible visible, with the arrival of visible Air Max cushioning.
Air Max Vs AF: 3 key differences in the Nike sneakers
1) Design
The most noticeable difference between Air Max and Air Force is the design of the shoes. Both sneakers are known for their unique and eye-catching designs. However, Air Max shoes feature a visible air unit in the sole, which gives them a distinct, futuristic look.
Air Force , on the other hand, have a more classic design with a smooth, solid sole.
2) Comfort
Both Air Max and Air Force are designed with comfort in mind, but they use different technologies to achieve this. Air Max shoes have a more cushioned sole with a larger air unit, which provides a bouncier and more responsive feel. Air Force shoes have a more traditional sole with less cushioning, which provides a firmer and more stable feel.
3) Functionality
While both Air Max and Air Force are popular for casual wear, they have different intended purposes. Air Max shoes are designed more for running and athletic activities, while Air Force shoes are designed more for basketball and other court sports.
Air Max are typically lighter and more flexible, while Air Force are more durable and supportive.
