Designed with Heather Haynes, a Yardrunners 1.0 alum and the daughter of two HBCU alums who continued the family’s legacy by attending Clark Atlanta University, this Nike Dunk Low uses the school’s colors to dress the sneaker.

the Clark Atlanta University x Nike Dunk Low is dressed in the Panthers’ black, grey and red colour scheme but features inversed colour-blocking on each shoe for a unique effect. consistent details are provided by the red Swooshes and foxing, plus white nylon tongues and red collars.

Some of the key details includes their motto, “FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE” printed all over the laces, the school’s Panthers logo are stamped on the tongues and translucent outsole. On the inside of the tongue you’ll notice “Clark College” written, which matches the insoles. An embroidered ‘1988’ hit on the heel tab nods to the genesis of CAU in its modern form, and insoles feature a unique graphic print.

On the Nike Dunk, you get a slim, mesh tongue. On the SB Dunk, the tongue has been beefed up to provide more cushion and protection. By being thicker, the tongue helps with the fit as well. It enables the sneaker to mold to your feet, preventing any slipping or wiggling. The tongue is held down with elastic straps which provide an added layer of lockdown. As a bonus, it allows you to slip the SB Dunk on and off without having to mess with finicky laces.
