NOAH has been making clothes for the gentleman that have sartorial desires beyond a simple graphic t-shirt. Conceived in 2015 by Brendon Babenzien, in the short span of 8 years, he’s elevated the label’s prestige while operating out of their 195 Mulberry St. in the New York’s fashion nucleus, Soho. In that time span as well, scoring a number of footwear collaborations and the latest of which is the classic, quintessentially N-Y-C, PUMA Clydes.
These are far from a general release tapping into the German shoemaker’s Made in Japan catalogue, contemporary shoes built with a craftsman’s principle. The collaboration is a perfect amalgamation of NOAH’s design vision along with Japan’s centuries-old design sensibilities. The uppers fused “a material created by the only expert tannery specialized for Suede leather in Japan” along with a “color dye (that) comes from a painstaking process based on an age-old technique.”
This Clyde is made from high-quality artisanal suede from Japan. The upper is predominantly navy Blue while the trademarked PUMA Formstrips on both the medial and lateral mid-panels are in deep forest Green. Gilded PUMA Clyde branding can be found on the lateral sides of the shoe, giving it a luxe touch. The Green and Blue tongue tabs feature co-branding as do the insoles. An all-white sole unit rounds out the design of this shoe.
Who is Clyde on Puma shoes?
The shoe bears a signature in golden letters: “Clyde”. The man is Walt Frazier, better known as “Clyde”, one of the greatest points guards in the NBA history.
