Rick Owens and Converse are back with another collaboration as they’ll be releasing new Clay and Egret colorways of the TURBOWPN model, a reimagined version of the original Converse Weapon. The TURBOWPN represents what can happen when a true modernist minimalism and contemporary luxury design is brought to a performance icon. The near monochromatic takes on the silhouette arrive in an era when the link between sport and fashion is stronger than ever.
The TURBOWPN continues as a bombastic take on the Weapon, elevated through Owens’ minimalist yet maximalist footwear aesthetic -most notably distorting and exaggerating proportions. Conjugating the iconic outsole of the Weapon, the TURBOWPN sits on a revamped tread. The outsole nearly doubles in proportion to create a platform stance, while the interior of the silhouette hosts a CX foam drop-in for comfort. Crafted in premium cowhide leather, with a subtly reinforced toe box and wide lace, the TURBOWPN also continues design articulations from Owens and Converse’s prior collaborations –the TURBODRK and DRKSTAR –with an elongated tongue and with stitched detail.
Should you buy a size down in Converse?
The Converse website recommends customers size down in their All Star and Chuck 70 silhouettes however we would still recommend staying true to size. Unless you have narrow feet, we don’t recommend sizing down in Converse.
