According to the Miami-based label, the SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 is as much inspired by Cuba as it is Michael Jordan’s stint playing Minor League Baseball: A tile design popular in old homes in Cuba makes its way onto the retro’s wrapping paper and sockliners. Both trims of the brand’s collaboration are covered in off white, sail tones as a nod to cleats worn on the baseball diamond. Additionally, the creatives referenced the Alacranes del Almendares’s team colors for the capsule, bringing old school Cuban baseball history to sneaker form.
The SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” features a sail upper, golden accents, a SoleFly hangtag and lacetips, as well as red details. They are carried over to this brighter colorway, such as the gilded hardware as well as the red accents all throughout the shoe. The base, though, replaces the blacked-out, “Playoffs” reminiscent palette for one comprised mainly of white and off-white tones.
